When first beginning to practice a new language, it is common to seek out words and expressions in the new language which are similar in your own native language. Between Spanish and English there are probably thousands of words that look and sound similar with the same meaning, BUT be careful; there are also many words which look and sound similar but have a different meanings. Don't get embarrassed (not to be confused with embarazada)! Check out these links to learn more about common false cognates:
